The canal by bike
Hjälmare Canal and its surroundings offer fantastic cycling opportunities. From Hjälmare Docka starts a nearly six mile long marked bike trail that takes you through scenic landscapes, past locks and on to Notholmen, where the canal meets Hjälmaren.
The trail is part of Arboga municipality's network of cycle paths and offers both easy cycling routes and exciting detours. On your tour, you can stop at rest areas along the way for a relaxing picnic. The area is perfect for cycling and offers magnificent oak avenues, gravel roads and winding paths through Sweden's oldest dug canal.
