Renovation project
In early 2025, AB Göta kanalbolag took over the operation of Hjälmare Canal. In connection with the takeover, a number of renovation projects started along the canal; you can read more about them here!
The area kring Hjälmare Docka
The stonework around the dock is in poor condition, as is the quay wall. The dock's stonework will therefore be re-laid, and if it is possible to lower the water outside the dock, the masonry will also be re-aligned at the same time. This work is expected to be completed in June 2026.
The bank around the dock also needs to be renovated; graveled and leveled. Electricity poles will also need to be aligned and possibly lighting will also be installed. This is expected to be completed in 2025.
