Eating and drinking at Hjälmare Canal
Along the Hjälmare Canal, there is a wonderful selection of cafés and restaurants that offer both taste experiences and relaxation in charming environments.
Hjälmare Kanalcafé is a charming summer café located at Hjälmare Dock, right next to the Hjälmare Canal. Here, visitors can enjoy a bite to eat while watching boats pass by in the historic canal.

Here you can enjoy fine shrimp sandwiches, sourdough pizza, good fish dishes, coffee bread, Götlunda Ice Cream, cool drinks and freshly brewed coffee of course. Did we mention that we also make pretty unpretentious food and dessert waffles? A must to try while visiting us!
Hjälmare Kanalcafé is open seasonally, usually from May to August. There are around 50 seats indoors and over 100 seats outdoors, including seats on the bridge where visitors can enjoy the view of the canal.
Surrounded by a fantastic environment and with the Hjälmare Canal outside the window you will find Restaurant Kvarnfallet! Here, to Arbogas and Hjälmare Canal's event destination, you can get both by land or water to enjoy good food and several events. In addition to the high season, we are open Wed-Sun throughout September followed by several events & Saturday lunches during the fall, and then finish with a Christmas table before 2026 takes off!

The pastry shop dates back to the 1940s and bakes everything in its bakery in Köping. It offers a wide range of pastries, light lunches and good coffee - perfect for a break during your stay at Hjälmare Canal.
